Conduct structured diagnostic interviews through approved telehealth or outpatient modalities and gather clinically relevant history, symptoms, functioning, strengths, and risk information.
Establish or confirm diagnoses within professional scope and document the evidence supporting the diagnostic formulation.
Review applicable CANS, ANSA, or other uniform-assessment results for completeness, consistency, and alignment with the recommended level of care.
Determine and document medical necessity for requested services within assigned authority and applicable program requirements.
Develop, approve, or return treatment and service recommendations when the record does not adequately support the requested course of care.
Identify missing, conflicting, or outdated clinical information and communicate exactly what is needed before a determination can be completed.
Consult with assessment staff, therapists, case managers, rehabilitation teams, and psychiatric providers without transferring LPHA accountability to unlicensed personnel.
Complete authorization, reauthorization, review, and determination records accurately and within required timeframes.
Participate in calibration, utilization review, audit response, and quality-improvement activities tied to assessment consistency and clinical reasoning.
